Bastille Fast Facts

Bastille are a British indie band formed in 2010. The group began as a solo project by lead vocalist Dan Smith, but later expanded to include keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist and guitarist Will Farquarson, and drummer Chris Wood.

Smith is a huge fan of the television TV series Twin Peaks and its creator David Lynch. Both Bastille's debut single Overjoyed and the title track of their first EP Laura Palmer, were inspired by the show.

Bastille's fourth single Pompeii was their breakthrough hit, peaking at #2 in the UK and #5 in the US. Smith originally wrote the song in 2010 on a laptop in his student bedroom.

Bastille have won several music awards and landed many nominations, including ones for Brit Awards, Billboard Music Awards, World Music Awards, and Grammy Awards. Bastille has sold over 8 million records worldwide. Read more at Wikipedia
